Where can I buy pre made sofrito?

Love to cook but I do not have time. Where can i get a good pre made sofrito?

  1. Goya makes one -- if your local store carries Goya products, odds are sofrito is there.

    1. This takes about 5 minutes. There is no such thing as "good pre made sofrito." Have the ingredients on hand and make it yourself. Make lots and freeze.

When I was in PR on vacation i say a pre made fresh sofrito for sale in the stores. I would think if it was not good that Puerto Rican's would not purcase it. Can not remember the brand.

If you're in a big city with a large Puerto Rican population, you might be able to find a market where someone makes this fresh everyday. Anywhere else, though and I think you're out of luck. Why don't you post this query on your regional board? You might have better luck.

      2. If you buy Goya, try to get the frozen, in a tub. It's much better than the jarred version.

thanks for the heads up! I've got a very quick (emphasis on quick) black bean & ricotta enchilada dish that uses sofrito, but I didn't care much for the jarred stuff.

That sounds great! Do you mind posting a recipe on the home cooking board?
