Wanchai Ferry Chinese Dinner Kits..

This SO goes against my Chowhound credo but had the Wanchai Ferry Cashew Chicken Dinner out of a box last night with a salad and I surprised how tasty it was..$1 coupon doubled so it made the box around $3..I added a large chicken breast cut up with a serrano chile for some heat but overall it was pretty good..
I am SO not a 'Box' kind of gal for dinner but for the two of us it was perfect.
Anyone else try these dinner kits?

I made the orange chicken for my 11 yr-old who LOVES orange chicken. I used to use Trader Joe's, but when I did, I had to also cook rice and steam some veggies to round out the meal. The Wanchai dinner included veggies as well as a bag of quickly microwaved rice, so I had the whole thing together with less work.
Am looking forward to trying the other flavors.

I made this for my family last week and everyone liked it. The only thing I wouldn't do again is break up all the chilies ........it ended up being too HOT! but the taste was just like a restaurant. Next time I will only break up one and leave the other chilies whole. We have a rice cooker and made our own fried rice, we don't like jasmine rice. I was looking on line for more coupons for the box kits, we would like to try others. I would tell my friends it is worth making and the family will enjoy the taste.

I love super hot spicy foods but the chiles in the Kung Pao are way too hot for all of them to put in the meal..just break up a couple of them and it gives off plenty of heat!

I've had the garlic chicken and Kung Pao and I thought it was pretty close to something you'd get in a restaurant (considering that it comes from a box). I think the fact that you have to coat the chicken, cook the rice, etc. yourself makes a big difference.

agree that it was surprisingly good and very much like you would get in a restaurant.
I have a couple of $1 coupons that make it a pretty reasonable meal for two..

I cooked the Kung Pao Chicken last night. It came w/whole red chilies, but really did not add much heat. It was a tad bit on the sweet side, but overall, I agree, it was quite tasty. We used thigh meat instead of breast meat.
