Greenport LI & Shelter Island

I'm going to the Harborfront INN at Greenport during Labor day Weekend. I will arrive late after work on Friday so I was wondering if someone could kindly recommend a late dinner place, Saturday vineyards and lunch to go to... I have dinner on Saturday night at NorthFolk Table INN for dinner (what is the favorite dishes) Sunday - Shelter Island lunch recommendations..

Thanks Sorry if I'm asking alot of questions.

  1. The Frisky Oyster might be open late on a Friday. At North Fork Table and Inn we adored the corn soup and rabbit, the tuna tartare and duck. Everything was delicious -- I don't think you could go wrong!

Thanks I'll try the Frisky Oyster when I get in on Friday. I can't wait for dinner at the North Folk Table and Inn!! I'll post when I get back..

    2. Shelter Island is really pretty and worth the ride over, but I'm drawing a blank on something the equivilant of North Fork Table or Frisky Oyster. Personally, I'd try Bobs Fish Market or Chequitt Inn (actually I usually eat at the Shelter Island Pharmacy next door, excellent food but it's bare bones, like the lunch counter at the old 5 & 10).

Thanks Coll! I'll try Bob's Fish Market, Chequitt Inn, or the lunch counter near the Pharmacy... Has anyone tried the macaroons at Mark It with G? the pics look great.. What about Reddings Market to pack a picnic at the beach? I'm so happy to get some local joints info!

My sister in law is in love with macarons and I've been wanting to stop to get some for her, so let me know if you go. I usually bring my own picnic, (Shelter Island is very expensive) but there IS a very busy restaurant on the main beach, called something like Sunset Saloon, obviously I've never been but it's a happening place, probably would be fine for drinks and lunch.

I had a great time in the North Folk and Shelter Island! I really enjoyed the wines in Paumanok Vineyards! I bought bottles of 2007 Chenin Blanc and the 2007 Semi Dry Riesling. They were both great summer wines. I also went to Peconic Bay Winery. I bought the Chardonnay and Riesling (new release). I usually do not like Chardonnay because I feel like it taste like rubber bands. This Riesling wasn't as sweet as the Paumanok but both are great!
We ate lunch at the Lobster Roll. My husband ordered the Fried Shrimp Platter and it was delicious! not too greasy. I ordered the Lobster Roll. I wasn't to fond of it. IMHO it had too much mayo and celery. I think fried food is best there.
The NorthFolk Table and Inn was excellent! I ordered the raw hamachi and seared foie gras. I loved this dish! Foie Gras was soo yummy and went well with the raw fish. My entree was the Roasted LI duck breast and Dessert was the Caramel Ice Cream and Chocolate tart. I am still drooling thinking about this meal! I only included a pic of the app because I devoured everything else!
I also ate at the Frisky Oyster. My entree was the Seared Sea Scallops with Spicy Eggplant puree and Carrot reduction. This dish was really good.
Had breakfast at Bruce's Cheese Emporium. If you go there you have to sit at the bar to get decent service. Alot of people left the tables but it was Labor day so it was busy. They have good pancakes and french toast!
When I went to Shelter Island I just missed Mark it with G. It closed at 12pm. I was really bummed. I only got to eat ice cream at Tuck shop and had a beer at the Sunset Beach Restaurant. That is the happening place.
            I will def go back!
            Thanks again!!
