One place that you might try is Hollingshead's Delicatessen which has a small beer bar in the rear with some excellent craft brews. I have not yet tried their sandwiches but they do look pretty darned good!

Try a Great Scott: Turkey, bacon, onion, avocado add tomato, all on a very nice squaw bread with a dab of spicy mayo (I think). Order a double if you dare followed by one of the India Pale Ales from Sierra Nevada or Stone Breweries (or whatever happens to be on tap that day). Good Stuff!

In the mood for a filling Italian? Go to Sabatino's.

Newport Beach, past the Cannery into the mobile home park, right into the shipyard.

http://www.sabatinosausagecompany.com/

Homemade sausages, spicy
Sicilian Italian sauces, a little spicy
kind of a heavy meal, but oh so good wen you want that.
soups are good, too.

Deli counter or dining sit-down with wait person, inside or out.

Laguna Hills - try BJ's MicroBrewery on El Toro - they have excellent tasty sandwiches as well as great tap beer. Often overlooked, a big beer hall of a place with fine service and re4asonable prices. The Hat, of course, for pastrami and thick sandwiches. Lee's and the other many Vietnamese places for a large variety of sandwiches on French bread.

Huntington Beach: De Simone's, on Edinger @ Golden West, in the Home Expo center. Great subs, freshly baked rolls (which they sell - the long ones are only $1.25, and are great to slice up to serve with a cheese plate), good Italian cold cuts. Also have a small assortment of Italian goods for sale.

Golden Baked Hams off Alicia Pkwy/5 Fwy in Laguna Hills. Not related to Honey Baked Hams... at all. Also, if you venture a few minutes outside of Orange County to Diamond Bar, I recommend International Deli off Pathfinder and the 57 Fwy. Try their International sandwich.

Have you had a Vietnamese Bahn Mi sandwich yet? I am absolutely addicted to them. I usually go to Zon in Tustin at least once a week. I am sure there are better places in Little Saigon, but Zon is 5 min from my office.
