Nutfield Brewery in Manchester NH

Didn't find anything when searching the site on this place -- is it worth hitting up? In town on business and looking for microbrew/dinner.

I'll be in Nashua, Concord, Portsmouth and Manch over the next three days -- also looking for the best lobster roll in the area. It's been awhile since I've been here (summer 2001 -- many happy Cremeland-filled days).

Yes, what you're looking for is Milly's Tavern, good burgers and pub food and excellent beer. Don't let the locals scare you (they don't bite).

Thanks. Nutfield apparently has a local outlet a mile or so from my hotel (in the Sheraton maybe?). We ended up at some mediocre pub on Elm in downtown. Not my choice as I tried to steer us to El Mexicano. Maybe tomorrow.

If you love great mexican and in need of great quick lunch, there is a taco truck on the corner of Lake and Union - excellent, fresh mexican. We enjoyed the soft taco and split a huge burrito.

Great new BBQ place in Manch - City Flames Smokehouse on the corner of chestnut and manchester st. Awesome bbq, but no liquor lic - sorry!!!

Yep, the taco truck was already marked down on my map -- any food served from truck is pretty much my dream food. Especially if it is tacos and involves carnitas. I will make sure we do a drive by at some point, or I'll just sneak out of the hotel while my coworker is napping.

Now I just need that lobster roll.

Tinkers would be great for the lobster roll and if you love steamers!! Too bad you aren't going north on 93 as far as tilton - awesome lobster roll at Dipsey Doodle. They do a hot roll or cold w/ lite mayo (mega meat), they have awesome sweet potato fries too. Actually, everything is really good - clams!!!

That is indeed awesome to know. I had been telling people how awesome City Flame is with the caveat that they didn't have alcohol since the majority of the folks I was trying to get to go can think of nothing better than a cold beer and some awesome BBQ. Honestly, with a few exceptions, I prefer BYOB. I'll bring better beer than most places have available.

amen to that.... as well as the fact that most places charge $4+ for a bottle of beer, and $8+ for a puny glass of wine. I can bring a couple of hefeweizen and a bottle of wine for the cost of one round :)

Nutfield Brewery is just a marketing company these days. The beers are brewed by Shipyard.

What isn't being brewed at Shipyard these days? We took the tour a month ago and was amazed at the number of brewers using their facilities. Thanks for the clarification.

I can't vouch for the food, but Mike Labbe is/was the brewer at Milly's Tavern and he has consistently been one of the best New England brewers. Concord, Pennechuk, the Tap, and I would drink any of his beers, any day. If the chef matches the brewer, they will be excellent.

I heard the other day that Mike Labbe has left Milly's already. Please correct me if I am passing on bad info.

This post makes me long for the days when Concord brewed in West Concord, and I could walk over, have a beer, and chat with the guys.
