Gramercy Tavern remains one of my favorites...consistently good, warm atmosphere. I think a much better "anniversary" spot than Craft.

Gramercy Tavern is one of my favorite "special" restaurants in New York. Food and ambiance are always spot on.
I also love Tocqueville for the same reasons.

I have to agree and say I would choose Gramercy Tavern hands down. It's wonderful.

Definitely Craft -- one of my three favorite high-end places in the city. I'd also agree with the EMP rec.

I second the earlier post recommending Fleur de Sel. It is a very small restaurant that provides a level of intimacy that a larger restaurant does not. The food, mostly classic French, is also very good.

I'm happy to see that you agree with my Fleur de Sel rec. However, I have to disagree with your description of the cuisine. It is *contemporary* French, not classic. And, yes, it is superb!
