Gramercy Tavern, Craft or Somewhere Else?

I am looking for a place in Gramercy or Union Square area to take my wife for our anniversary. Have plans to got to Flatiron Lounge for Cocktails first.

    1. Gramercy Tavern remains one of my favorites...consistently good, warm atmosphere. I think a much better "anniversary" spot than Craft.

        1. Gramercy Tavern is one of my favorite "special" restaurants in New York. Food and ambiance are always spot on.

I also love Tocqueville for the same reasons.

            1. Others to consider:

              Eleven Madison Park - http://www.elevenmadisonpark.com

              Fleur de Sel - http://www.fleurdeselnyc.com

              Veritas - http://www.veritas-nyc.com

                1. I have to agree and say I would choose Gramercy Tavern hands down. It's wonderful.

                    1. Definitely Craft -- one of my three favorite high-end places in the city. I'd also agree with the EMP rec.

                        1. I second the earlier post recommending Fleur de Sel. It is a very small restaurant that provides a level of intimacy that a larger restaurant does not. The food, mostly classic French, is also very good.

I'm happy to see that you agree with my Fleur de Sel rec. However, I have to disagree with your description of the cuisine. It is *contemporary* French, not classic. And, yes, it is superb!
