Chelsea W/Village dinner recs

I'm looking for a place to take my parents that will make them say "wow that was quite an experience". Someplace that has a bit of a scene (not looking for small, quaint, or romantic), great food, and a big enough reputation so when they go back home (Mass) and tell their friends where they ate their friends will say "oh wow, that must have been quite an experience".
Any price range, any cuisine

Maybe try Perilla? Fantastic food, cool New York vibe, not overly expensive, and it has a "celebrity chef" at the helm (if you consider a Top Chef winner to be enough of a celebrity).
