Green Village is gone!

Headed out to San Gabriel (again) for a Sunday lunch at what has always ranked as one of our favorite restaurants in LA County, let alone San Gabriel, and discovered the place empty, as in entirely stripped inside, with a big Eviction notice signed by Sheriff Lee Baca on the front door. We all but wept.

  1. If the place you are referring to was at 140 W. Valley Blvd., it closed about 2-3 years ago, and the most recent replacement was the one that was evicted.
This is in the retail project just west of the Hilton, right? That center has notoriously high tenant turnover, as the parking just sucks - when a banquet is in the hotel, no parking for the retailers/restaurants, and thus no one can pay the rent.

    1. They moved to the 2nd floor of a strip mall on 250 W. Valley between New Avenue and Del Mar Avenue.

No. Alas, the 2nd floor location at 250 W. Valley is the one that has closed. It only happened like 12 days ago. I was there less than a month ago. The others, yeah, have been gone a while.

ah, that is quite unfortunate then.

There's another branch in Rowland Heights. It may have a different name, I forget because I always end up being seduced by Chiu Chow food in Rowland Heights. ipsedixit or Jerome...?

What's the name and location of a good Chiu Chow place in Rowland Heights? I'd be most appreciative of such information. Thanks.

There's a Green Village at the Diamond Plaza right off Fullerton exit of 60 freeway. I've never been.

There were actually two in Rowland Heights and they're both gone.

            2. Well this sucks! They always seemed like they were doing fine business to me.

              1. Can't believe I just read this...been a fan of Green Village since it opened. They prepared dishes that reminded me of my grand ma's cooking...

So far Green Village has proven time and again that Yogi Berra was right about deja vu all over again (I've heard four times). Keeping my fingers crossed that they'll be back - I was shut out on a Saturday night back in June when they were closed to the public for a wedding banquet - still chomping at the bit...
