good restaurant in Little India?

I'm looking for a good place to go with 8 women from Toronto on a Friday night. I'm staying near 27th and Madison, and so want to walk over to Little India. Any suggestions?

IMO Saravanaas is the best in the neighborhood, no question. The best South Indian in Manhattan, the best Indian vegetarian in Manhattan.

Agreed on Saravanaas, I had heard a lot about it and just ate there for the first time last month - it was as good as everyone had described - excellent southern indian.

For Northern Indian, curry leaf is out favorite in that neighborhood.

Two blocks over on Lexington (btw 27th and 28th) there's a dosa place called Tamil Nadu Bhavan. Really terrific dosas and very reasonably priced.

Saravannah's on 27th or 26th and Lex is great.
Chinese Mirch is good Indian Chinese.
Pongal's is pretty good too.
