I was driving by here the other day and noticed the sign had been taken down. Does anyone know if they're now closed?

Yes, they closed, because Andre moved to Paso Robles! He and his wife will be opening a specialty bakery here. I don't know if it's going to be a retail situation. I do know that they will be catering to local restaurants and such.
So, am I totally lucky that he moved here? For a cow town of 20,000 people to have TWO French bakeries and TWO French restaurants is pretty amazing!

I guess so by the other reply and from the ad I see for a new biestro in the same spot. The ad is in today's South Pasadena Review for bistro K opening July 17th.
Says:
bistro K proposes to South Pasadena a menu influenced by the diverse flavors found within the San Gabriel valley.
Chef Laurent Quenioux, best-known for his 7th Street Bistro in Downtown LA, now opens bistro K to bring together the culinary styles of the area. bistro K offers lunch, dinner, Sunday brunch, and full-catering services in partnership with Quenioux's Bistro 1000 at the Alhambra.
