Trying to reserve PEKING DUCK HOUSE at Mott St. tonight, but they're booked! Is there an alternative in Chinatown? I'd rather not go to Midtown for their sister restaurant. Thank you!

I've heard that the peking duck at peking duck house can be a little disappointing (mixed reviews)... look at this thread for alternatives: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/318500

No good alternative I am afraid. Mott Street branch always busy. Same owners. Excellent Peking Duck at both locations - East 53rd location more elegant in decor and certainly less crowded.

After few attempts, we ended up at AMAZING 66. Their duck really isn't bad, but we did not like the thicker pancake they served. I know some folks bash PDH, but in my opinion, their duck is marginally better than A66's.

FWIW - I was just in Chinatown (trying out Chatham Square) and noticed that at the parking garage on Worth just around the corner from Chatham Square (south side) they offer $10 parking for three hours if you're eating at Peking Duck House after 4pm. Thought that was a pretty good deal.
