From great to bad to great again. A new Oki Doki

One of my favorite Japanese restaurants near my office in Tustin was called Osaka Kappo. They had wonderful food and fair prices. It had quite a following and was run by a wonderful family. Sadly they sold and it went downhill fast and I mean fast. The new owners even had the nerve to change the name to Bluefin a couple of months ago.

Today I was heading up Newport Ave to check out the new Sprouts market and I saw a grand opening sign that said Oki Doki Izakaya. Could this be a new outpost of Oki Doki? Anyone been? Same menu as the Costa Mesa location?

I was just there a few weeks ago late night since the wait at Honda-ya was too long and I didn't feel like waiting.

As far as I can remember the menu is the same as the Costa Mesa location. We had spicy tuna roll, gyoza, spring rolls and won ton soup. All for around $20. Everything was solid, the service friendly.
