Watermelon and Pretzels (Monmouth Cty NJ)

Oh I know I should make this two separate posts, but don't you love the title?

1. WATERMELON
I have been enjoying exceedingly good watermelon from ER & Sons farm (a.k.a Farmer Ed). You can buy a cut melon at the Red Bank Farmers Market on Sundays, or a whole melon at the West End Long Branch market on Thurs afternoons. And they are at other markets...

These are superb organically-grown watermelons for only 50 cents a pound! Seedless or with seeds. The melons with the seeds are perfect, aromatic, refreshing, taste like I remember from childhood.

2. PRETZELS
Pretzels are so not on my diet. But my car drove itself up to the new Philly soft Pretzel store in Eatontown. There was a sign for free pretzels. Sure enough, they gave me three pretzels for free -- first time customers only. They are the philly style -- long skinny twists, baked in a row. I would say they are good enough, nothing special, but much better than Auntie Annes.
