I plan on going upstate ny this weekend. I want to bring some tasty treats so i picked up some port salut cheese and cerignola olives for noshing.

I work on 54 and 7th (new to neighborhood) and was wondering if anyone has additional recommendations for yummy unusual food items or just down right good things that i can pick up in addition to what i have already

pastry/cupcake shops
cheese shops
wine shops
specialty goods shops

thanks

I'm not that familiar with the area, but I see lots of raves for the baked goods at Petrossian.

agreed. Their croissant and baguettes are very good. other that I cant think of much in the area ,unless you want to go to Time Warner which is not that close.

Today or tomorrow you could go over the to farmers market in Rock Center - its there Wed-Fri for the rest of the month - not big but the vendors who are there are generally pretty good. Bobolink Dairy was there this morning and I picked up some nice cheese.

Right in front of 30 Rock (between it and the skating rink), and then extending from there up to 51st st.

How about Ruby et Violette for their different types of chocolate cookies on 50th & 10th. Further away are Sullivan Bakery on 47th bet. 10th & 11th, and both Amy's Bread and Poseidon Bakery are in the 40s on 9th Avenue.

One more thought - for a breakfast treat, I do like the muffins at Between the Bread, 145 W 55th (btw 6th and 7th).
