Any recommendations at S&P Oyster in Mystic?

Miss Needle Aug 14, 2008 10:21 AM

Hello. I'll be in Mystic this weekend for a wedding, and will be having lunch at S&P Oyster. The restaurant is already set. I was wondering if you guys had any favorite dishes you like to order there. Any particular standouts or must-orders?

We'll also probably be driving by New Haven on our way back and will try to hit one of the pizza places -- Modern, Sally's or Pepe's. As I'm on crutches now, it would be great if they were wheelchair accessible or at least not too many steps. Does anybody have information pertaining to this?

Thanks so much!

I have never had lunch or dinner there but I did go there for a drink and dessert. They have a WONDERFUL bread pudding there. I would go back just for that.

I'm sooo jealous! I grew up in that area so I can make some recommendations but you have to REALLY like seafood.

WHOLE Clams with the bellies are just the BOMB

A broiled seafood platter with scallops, cod etc is the best way to go. DON'T GET FRIED!!

If you like clams, get the steamers. They are cooked & steamed clams, dip them in the brine and then the butter. YUMMY.

Please have some for me too!

A stop in New Haven at Pepe's is a must do...Best pizza in Connecticut (and I grew up there!)

Thanks for the responses. Alicia, I would love to try the bread pudding. Unfortunately, we'll be having a large dinner that night. So I'll probably be keeping it light.CoteGal, the whole belly clams sound good. I'm assuming they're fried. I hope the others would be interested in sharing these as I don't think I can finish this myself. And the broiled seafood platter sounds interesting. As I've never had lobster sauce that wasn't Chinese, I'd be curious to see what type of lobster sauce this platter comes with. And I'll be thinking of you when I eat them.

        Thanks guys!
