In town for labor day weekend...Eating at Blackbird on Saturday, but trying to decide on good Italian for Sunday. We have reservations at Pane Caldo currently since we are staying nearby at Sutton Place. Have not seen recent reviews. Have been to Spiaggia in past, but looking for slightly less formal...Any opinions?...Thanks in advance.

I went to A Mano this past Valentine's day and found it pretty fun. They have $5 appetizers and an option to order a half portion on the pasta dishes. It's still a nice place but definitely has a more casual atmosphere than Spiaggia. The food was good except I was a little "eh" on the secondi course. Service was great though. http://www.amanochicago.com/

Another Italian place I've gone to that I've liked was Merlo, which has two locations. Very very authentic but a little more formal than A Mano. http://www.merlochicago.com/
