Best char siu in London?

medgirl Aug 14, 2008 07:32 AM

Hi, I love char siu (Chinese bbq pork) and usually buy from See Woo Chinese supermarket in Greenwich from their barbecued meat counter. Wondering if anyone can suggest good places (resturant or chinese grocer to get char siu). The char siu I get at See Woo can vary in quality from week to week: sometimes it is great, sometimes not so great. Anyone know where to get consistently brilliant char siu? Thanks very much.

We quite like Goldmine. It's the best char siu in Bayswater, for what it's worth (i.e. better in my estimation than Four Seasons, Hung Tao, etc).

I've never bought char siu from a supermarket before, so I wonder how that compares to restaurant char siu. I recently had really good char siu at Pearl Liang in Paddington, but I don't think you can pop in just to buy some. There's a restaurant next to Loon Fung supermarket on Gerrard St where they sell roast duck and char siu, that my mum used to go to many years ago. I wonder what the char siu is like now?
