Seeking small wine or beer tasting (w/ tour?)

Hi all, a close friend is turning 40, and we are looking for a great place for a small wine or beer tasting and/or tour for a group of 8-15 people (most likely on a Saturday.) Dinner would follow the event or could be part of it. Our friend lives in the Framingham area, but we are thinking of hiring a limousine for guests and could travel within 45 minutes or so. Any ideas would be GREAT. (The event will be in early November.)

If you visited Westport Rivers Vineyards you might also be able to tour Buzzards Bay Brewery next door. They are owned by the same family of delightful folks. Both are in Westport MA which is one of the prettiest place in the state.

Sakkonnet Vineyards in Little Compton, R.I. is beautiful ... and really not very far away. November will be after harvest time, and it will be slow at the vineyard. I am sure a tour is available, and there has to be viable dining options in the area. I would check in with the winery.

Wine Cellar of Silene in Waltham does a free tasting every Saturday until 5pm. No tour though. Lots of dining possibilities in Waltham afterward.

I have to say the Harpoon Brewery in Boston. Do the tour and tasting (they are very generous with the tasting). There are some new restaurants within walking distance (Morton's, Legal Test Kitchen and for someting more casual, the No Name Restaurant) The whole thing is straight down the pike to South Boston.

Nashoba Valley Winery does group tours but for a fee. I've heard good things about the restaurant there too, but have yet to go.

Try Sam Adams or Harpoon for beer and Westport Winery for wines.
