CMT Aug 13, 2008 09:43 PM

Hi Westcoasters.....you have terribly high beer prices, and I expect the same for wine. Any suggestions for good variety/selections in wines....including Spain, Italy, SA & BC
Thanks for ideas.....we're used to state monoply in Quebec

The BC Liquor Store on Cambie and 39th probably has the best selection out of all the government run stores in the Lower Mainland. For private stores that exclusively sell BC VQA wines, check out SIP Wines in Ironwood Plaza in Richmond, Kensington Square Wines in Burnaby, and Village Wines on 41st, near Dunbar or in Kits. These three stores generally offer free tastings on Saturdays. Liberty Wine Merchant (there's a few of them around the city) also carry selections of BC and interantional wines. Firefly Wines on Cambie and 12th also carries some interesting wines.

Everything Wine on Marine Dr in North Van is Canada's largest. Worth the trip.
