Bon Marché, Bangkok

Aw Taw Kaw is quite famous. But, IMHO, Bon Marche has it beat.

Located in the Prachachuen area, it's a little off the beaten path for the casual visitor. But, for those living here, or on an extended stay, it's definitely worth a visit.

Besides the classic "wet" market staples, it also has many boutique shops, selling all sorts of accessories.

Although we have just started our exploration of the place, we have found some great pork knuckle, Moslem rice and some good bamee.

There's a tasty variation of coconut ice cream too.

We always pick up a chunk of Bow Cake's chocolate cake to take home!

The food court is quite the experience. Unlike most, this is a food court with a view. It overlooks the market's central pond.

Another unusual food court feature is that one "buses" their own table. After you eat, you are expected to take your dishes and utensils to a central station to be cleaned. The staff will then wipe the tables clean. These are some of the cleanest tables of any local eatery I've seen.

If you like food, and are spending some time in Bangkok, definitely head over.
