Afghan Foods Bolanis found at Andronico's
There is a whole Afghan section in one of the refrigerators at Andronico's of Afghan Bolanis (I bought pumpkin) various sauces, condiments and chutneyish stuff...very interesting!
I found a link to their site..what do you think?!

What? A hand didn't reach out of the fridge and hand you samples?
East West Gourmet is the new Sukhi's of the farmers market set ... ever present. I like the samples I've had but can't tell you what they were, all were good. I also like the bread, but need to cut back in that area so I'm mainly sampled the food. They offer so many samples that i've never pinned down which I like best. How was the pumpkin?
Poor, poor Whole Foods buyer ... didn't have a chance against these guys.

LOL. They're genius marketers. They give you samples, but it's always a combo of bolani with at least two of their special spreads and sauces, so you always end up buying several things.
I like the spinach bolani the best, and it's very low in calories. And I like the garlic-mint "cheese" and the cilantro pesto. That's what I usually buy.

Those are my favorites too - it's funny about their sampling technique - I actually have to dodge them at the San Mateo market because once she reels me in, I can't get away from her! It got embarrassing after she gave me the 4th or 5th sample... there's really no saying "no" to her!

My other favorite is the curried lentils.

Looks like they're at the Ferry Building -- also at small Crocker Galleria market on Thursdays. http://www.bolaniandsauce.com/html/Wh...

My favorite combo is the spinach bolani with some of that mint cheese/yogurt stuff, a dollop of the cilantro pesto and (my absolute favorite) a dab of the jalapeno jelly. These guys always offer some kind of deal where you can buy 3 items and they'll throw in a fourth for free. I always end up spending alot, but the product is really very good.
I have seen them at the Friday farmers market in Old Oakland and the Saturday market at Lakeshore/Grand.

They are also at the Parkmerced farmers' market on Saturdays (10:00 to 2:00) and at the Serramonte farmers' market on Thursdays (9:00 to 1:00) and, I think, on Saturdays.
