Random Pricing at Scoops

I noticed random pricing, or maybe they just don't like me. I tried to get a refill yesterday and the younger Asian guy looks at me and charges me extra. I looked at the price on the board and he shrugged and said "You know why". I had no idea what he was talking about I paid the extra money since I didn't want to argue. What is the deal with this place?

i think the price for a refill is clearly marked as $1.75. I mean, it's not like you expected it to be free right? Prices have gone up again, but that's because milk has gone up. If you're mad about that one, how about getting mad at the government for subsidizing corn for so long and the prices of that skyrocketing with the increase of ethanol fuel. And surprise surprise, corn feeds cows. simple economics. it's still a very reasonable $2.75 for two scoops of fresh ice cream. I can't think of another place that makes all (or almost all) of their ice cream fresh daily. btw, I know that 'younger' asian guy, I'll tell him to be a little nicer next time :) he's usually very friendly.

Sorry your experience was bad. Every time I go, I order two flavors and Tai charges me the small/one flavor price. It is a very generous serving. And yes, the gelato is incredible. Does the refill have to be the same flavor?

...Unless there's a secret gelato room in the back that I'm not aware of.....?

I'm astonished that anyone would say anything about any change in pricing at Scoops short of the owner's looking at the board, (and comparing the prices at, say, even Baskin Robbins) and shrieking "What the hell was I thinking?!! I must have been out of my mind!! I can't make any money at that price!!!" and immediately doubling all the posted prices!

Well, he did double the posted price, which is why I asked. It wasn't the owner, it was one of the younger kids. I guess he just didn't like me or something. He was also questioning my ability to eat the ice cream. I'm really small but I eat a lot and he said I would never finish it and tried to force me to get a smaller size.

I've never seen pricing for a "refill" on ice cream nor have I ever seen anyone ask for a refill of ice cream. Maybe the employee was thrown by you asking for a refill.

there is refill pricing if you reuse the plastic cup they give you.

There is even a sign or it might be written on the menu that refills cost $x amount. That guy was RUDE! Sorry you had a bad experience.

Here's the thing, it wasn't the master. It was one of his uppity apprentices...

I thought about it and what makes me mad is that someone questioned my eating abilities. I've paid a LOT more for gelato at a lot of places so the prices are frankly not an issue with me. It was more the reasoning behind it.

Hey ease off... The last time I was there the hipster server was rude too. I just attributed it to people asking for to many trial tastes. I say just go with your gut and deal with what you get.

Brown bread is always available at Scoops. It's one of their staples. Make sure you contribute to the flavor suggestion board when you go. I'm sure Tai will be making my suggestion: uni-foie gras combo ice cream anyday now....

I requested that for next Thanksgiving all the flavors should be appropriate; mashed potato and cranberry, rosemary stuffing, apple pie with brandy, etc
