Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in China and Southeast Asia (inc. Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore)

Taipei, artisan bakeries...bread...pastry?

heard great things about the baking and pastry chefs that have recently competed in France for the bread and pastry competition, I believe they took home 2nd place.
I plan to visit artisan bakeries in taipei and would possibly like to visit the winning chef's bakery in taipei, any recs or info would be greatly appreciated, thanks,

  1. I have no info specifically on that, but at Taipei 101, you may want to visit a branch of a Japanese Euro bakery called Flavorfield. Really truly amazing baked goods that have a true Euro flavor but light like Japanese style western bakeries and also fit for Taiwanese tastebuds. Even better than the stuff Jason's Marketplace in the basement can do.

thanks, KK, I will check it out/ I am also on a mission to track down the three pastry and Taiwanese bakers that brought home silver medal from the world
pastry and bread competition in Paris.
there is also a number of popular local bakeries such as 85 degrees bakery among others that are gaining presence in taiwan.
