Hi. We're going to be in Toronto next week. 2 Adults 3 teenagers, one a vegetarian but she eats fish. We are staying at the Cambridge Suites in the Financial district. Any interesting recommendations. We like greek, italian, etc, I hear there is a Portuguese area . Any suggestions appreciated. . Mostly casual places,

  1. One interesting place you might consider, although it's not Greek, Italian or Portuguese, is Harlem. I haven't been myself but it gets favourable comments on the board and it's just down the street from you a few blocks to the east. If you click on the place link, you'll find related threads.

I second JK's recommendation. Harlem has great comfort food. I didn't love the fried chicken, but the blackened catfish was very good. Get the mac and cheese as a side, if you're a fan of the dish. It's the best I've ever had!

    2. Terroni offers up some really great pizza and pasta in a pretty casual atmosphere and it's only about a block and a half SE of you.

(As an aside, for others who are replying and don't know where the Cambridge Suites is (as I didn't) -- it's on Richmond, just east of Yonge).

      1. Hmm, you're not getting a lot of responses, maybe provide some more detail about what you're looking for.

In any event, I'll suggest a couple of areas you may want to explore for interesting food and sights, both within walking or short transit trip for you.

First the St Lawrence Market -- go on Saturday (closed Sunday and Monday) and grab a peameal sandwich at Paddingtons or a grilled egglant sandwich at Mustachio's downstairs. Search the board for other suggestions to try there -

The other is the Distillery District, which is a lovely old pedestrian cobblestoned village that includes a numbr of restaurants from casual pub to high-end, from coffee shop to chocolatier. -
