Exploring produce row at the San Jose Flea Market on Saturday, besides the tejuino and coconut stand ( http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/547230 ), I spotted a number of interesting fruits and vegetables used in Mexican cuisine. Quelites, pipacha, mamey, mezcal (agave), and more, including some organics. Prices are low and quality higher than the supers. I also saw mole from Oaxaca and Guerrero and Mexican cheeses. Also, the vendors were friendly and welcoming, calling out prices and specials, and greeting passers-by. Here's my slideshow of Produce Row,

I saw four bread stalls but didn't buy anything. Two of them were for Eduardo's, Michoacan-style bakery.

I wasn't there after 3pm on sunday, so can't answer your question.

Did you look at the slideshow link? Prices are listed for the apple bananas and mamey. Cherries were $2.50 to $3/lb; limes were from 10 to 16/$1; nectarines, 89¢ lb., that's all I can remember. I snapped some shots of eggplants with you in mind.

I find Eduardo's round vanilla flavored breads ($ 1 each) very efficient soakers of Bailey's irish cream, which is how I evaluate breads for chowing with black coffee!
As for cherries and grapes , they went down to 99 cents a pound this sunday evening. Same quality though
I saw the lovely pics of eggplants @ Rolands produce. They also carry little tomatoes, which are very very tart, with a thin skin and more juice than pulp. These tomatoes pair very well with various salts ( grey, pink, black, etc) for a simple bomb salad.
Since both beer and juices are available , I have tried various combos, a new one everytime i go there , like beer with hibiscus, beer with coconut juice, beer with orange and limon juice with sliced jalapeno ( they will do that if you provide the peppers) , beer with pineapple juice and chunks of pineapple, beer with strawberry juice ...you get the idea
It is fun out there
