My husband and I want to take my daughter and her husband to Brennans for her 31st birthday. When I called to make reservations I was told they were remodeling so only the upstairs would be available. Is that a Problem?

Oh I agree, a birthday dinner at Brennan's is a special occasion.

A boyfriend took me there for my birthday some years ago and we were surrounded by others also celebrating special occasions. There was another 2-top where the lady was handed a tiny festive gift bag between courses, containing a lovely piece of jewelry (my date sheepishly told me that my gift was still at home). Then a couple in the corner got engaged, with the accompanying squeals and applause. My date, ready to crawl under the table at this point, felt the need to tell me that my gift would NOT be an engagement ring. I remember the food being fantastic, the service extremely attentive and my (notoriously frugal) date rolling his eyes when the check came. Lucky for me, his company relocated him to Ohio about 6 months later. My gift? An iced tea maker that I still use.
