I would suggest you cook the bacon very crisp (perhaps in a microwave) and then enrobe it in tepid, not warm, chocolate. Otherwise, the bacon will go soggy. I'd be intrigued. I've had bacon with chocolate chip pancakes, so I'm open to the combination.

> too bad nobody knows where to find an actual strip of bacon covered in chocolate

My guess is that this rather specific concoction may not yet have reached the shores of our lovely island - for better or worse.

But if you're that determined to know for sure, a quick call to all the artisanal chocolatiers in the city would take about an hour of your time, and then you'd have a definitive answer you could report back. And who knows, you just may plant the idea in someone's head. ;-)

Until then, you may wish to travel down the 401 to sample Xococava's chorizo truffle, as read in yesterday's Globe & Mail.

Some excerpts from the review:

"Xococava's chocolate truffles come in various flavours, from tried-and-trues like mint, raspberry or gianduja to more exotic takes like chorizo. Charcuterie and chocolate? It works better than you'd think.....

Xococava's chorizo truffles combine the tastes of dark Callebaut chocolate, sweet pork fat and toasted chilis. You wouldn't want to eat five of them, but one or two are glorious."

They also have some other odd-sounding truffle combos, including white chocolate-olive and milk chocolate-cedar.

The review should be online for a couple of days at least:

What's the general consensus about the Vosges bar? Tomorrow I'm going back for the ginger/wasabi/black sesame seeds bar, which is too crazy not to try.

Also not to get too far away from fatty salty treats, but Genevieve Grandbois have some fantastic chocolate covered blueberries right now that I don't imagine will be around much longer. Awesome simple dessert.

The Vosges bar elicits mixed reactions. Either you like it, or don't like it at all, but I have yet to meet anyone who loves it. It's fun to try, but I don't think I'd run to buy it again - and I feel the same about the white chocolate and kalamata bar as well (can't remember the name offhand) - it's also a salty/pungent/sweet mix of flavours. (I prefer the Vosges goji berry bar).
