where to get gravenstein apples today?

Anyone know a produce store/market with gravensteins for sale? Need to make a pie early tomorrow and gravensteins have been requested. No farmers' markets today (I went to the old Oakland market, only found gingergolds) so any stores appreciated! thanks....

  1. Berkeley Bowl? They usually have several different kinds of gravs in grav season. If they don't, that probably means the wholesale distributors don't have them yet, so none of the stores will have them. Monterey Market might be the exception, since they source some of their produce direct from growers. I suggest you call both of them before heading out.

ETA: You might want to try Farmer Joe's, too. If you're in Oakland, it can be a little more convenient and less zoo-like than the Bowl, and certainly more than trekking out to North Berkeley.

    1. Yesterday Berkeley Bowl had three different kinds of Gravs, ranging from $1.09 to $1.19 per pound. I did not see any organic ones, nor any red ones.
