479 Popcorn
For fans of flavored popcorn, you owe yourself the chance to try 479 Popcorn at least once.
I just received a sampler box, and these things are, um, how do you say ... evil? Simply cannot eat just a handful (much less one). They almost explain, if not justify, pure unadulterated gluttony.
A rundown of the flavors I tried:
Fleur de sel with caramel. Sweet and savory, sort of like yogurt covered pretzels but without the icky, overly sweet chemical aftertaste.
Ginger sesame caramel. This reminded me of what senbei would be like if those Japanese crackers were dipped in honey, or caramel in this case.
Still have a box of Chipotle caramel with almonds that I have yet to open.
Go try some for yourself, esp. if you're in SF. If not, then get comfortable with the words "online orders"
Cheers.

That sounds dangerously good. I'm all about popcorn, especially spicy.

I just put in an order for "The Purist" sampler pack and am really forward to the Pimentòn de La Vera and Vietnamese Cinammon Sugar flavors.
But, dang, these things are expensive. Sort of like chomping on diamonds.

I can't tell how big the canisters are from the website. Just how much popcorn do you get for $38??

Shorter, but fatter, than a typical Pringles can.

Can't wait to try the high end popcorn...It sounds fabulous. If you want a tasty health food
alternative try dousing your popcorn with flax seed oil, garam masala and a sprinkle of fleur de sel. Yum.

Sounds great !!! I love popcorn. I have been using my alder-smoked salt on my popcorn for quite some time now ! That cashew curry one sounds mighty good.
Here's another, more local, mention....for anyone in Nova Scotia, or visiting:

I've not had the popcorn, but i can attest to the wonderfulness that is the chili nut brittle!! Have also sampled the fleur de sel chocolate bar, and that was also very good !

I've got to try those - major popcorn lover here.
I read an article (Alton Brown I think) about making your own popcorn that intriqued me.
Regular lunch-type brown paper bags, add some oil and whatever flavorings you want.
Fold over and use two staples only, and nuke. That's a thing I could have a lot of fun with!
Has anyone tried it?

I tried it a few years ago when I first saw that episode. I wasn't impressed and probably have 48 brown paper bags left from a package of 50. I prefer to stove pop and add flavorings after.

Good to know; I was curious.

Before I even clicked the link I was thinking...it's gotta be an "O" fav thing...sure enough.
Oprah darling, can you recommend affordable goodies from time to time. Dare I even try such an overpriced treat such as this.
