Brunch in Hell's Kitchen
Aside from dittos on RGR's recommendations, I'd add Toloache, on 50th between Bway and 8th, which bills itself as a "mexican bistro" and serves an interesting and tasty brunch (try the huaraches). Ambience is bright and pleasant, service is friendly if slightly amateurish. They upsell on their guacamole trio, but they're freshly prepared and actually make a nice shared starter for 2-4 (depending on appetite size). Lots of tequilas and other drink choices. We enjoyed it.
There's also Nizza, just up the block from Marseille (and owned by the same group), which is a casual place that serves a variety of small and medium dishes based on the cuisine of the French & Italian riviera. Love the socca (chickpea "pancake"); good - and interesting - small pizzas, too, and a nice selection of wine by the glass. .
