Sundance Channel: Biggest Restaurant in the World
Subtitled documentary about 5,000-seat, 300-chef West Lake Restaurant in Hunan Provice. Founded in 2000 by a woman. She's a Communist Party member now worth $4 million.
Enormous complex serving hawker-style food from Street of Snacks to elaborate banquets. One 2-level dining room seats 800 and has a stage w/ live entertainment. Many private dining rooms.
I couldn't watch the way they killed a duck, skinned and disembowled a snake or had a contest for chefs who could fry a live fish so quickly that its mouth was still moving after it was cooked. Other than that, it was fascinating.

There was a item on NPR last week about the worlds biggest restaurant. They said it was in Syria. I believe the name was Damascus' Gate and it sat over 6000. I don't know whos correct, but I wonder about the quality of food in giant restaurants. I would be interested in trying either restaurant.
