Mijori Grand Ave Oakland

I don't know why this place is so popular but it is. The fish isn't of the highest quality is the 1st item that bothers me in a sushi bar in addition service is poor (tea cold). However it is mitigated because they do serve you free edamame, it's quick and inexpensive. I would say take a pass but I don't have another place to send you to.

PS how do Japanese restaurants get away with the iceberg lettuce salad- nobody but Japanese restaurants serve it- coated with usually gloppy dressing & we eat it up with chopsticks.

They do have a ridiculous amount of very involved rolls. Some people really go for that.

For cheap sushi you can't beat GetA on 41st off Piedmont. We just ate there--great hirame sashimi, deep-fried (and unbreaded eggplant), lobster rolls, spicy tekka don, amaebi, two vegetable tempura appetizers, wakame su, tempura shrimp roll. More than enough for three for $55. Everything just great--fresh and tasty. Fast. The ambiance was the usual cheerful over-crowded lack of.

Seems like the people who like it like the rolls ... or the supposedly large portions ... or it just happens to be in their neighborhood.

Neighborhood was why I went there, until their bento boxes became overpriced and their service declined. Parking near there can be a nightmare, but if you can walk...
