What's new in K/W?
Just wondering if anyone has any new and exciting chow finds in KW? I noticed that there is a new thai restaurant on Weber St. in Kitchener. It's called Bangkok Cusine - anyone been yet?
I've visited the new Blackshop a couple of times in the last couple of months. I was disappointed both times. They seem to be trying too hard. To many ingredients that just don't work well with each other.
For example, last week I had the blackened catfish special. It was a large hot (spicy and temp) piece of catfish on top of dry crumbled up corn bread. On top of the catfish was a large amount of cold, extremely thick, creamy dill sauce with small shrimp mixed in. A mix of warm and cold veggies were served around the plate. Dessert was dry flavourless peach cobbler.
I'm still in search of a great brunch place. I would kill for some fluffy buttermilk pancakes or thick flavourful french toast. I guess I just have to head to Stratford or make it myself.

I checked out Bangkok Cuisine for dinner tonight, and I enjoyed it quite a bite. I would never dream of saying that I know what authentic thai food is -- since I have never been to Thailand, but I do compare the region's thai restaurants to those in Toronto.
It is a small restaurant that is nicely decorated and very clean. The menu has a good selection of items to choose from. We started with the fresh shrimp springs rolls. They were very fresh and nicely balanced with a mix of ingreadients.
When then shared the pad thai and cashew nut chicken. Both were very flavourful (no ketchup here). We ordered it medium in spice and it had a kick!
I will be going back to this little gem again.

i'm not a huge fan of the blackshop. I haven't been to their new location yet. I love the new 20 hobsin st restaurant in the old blackshop location. I have been there about 4 times so far the service and food is spot on. They re done the decor as well. The tables aren't as close together as they were at the blackshop and they got rid of the bright pastel color scheme, the decor is much more elegant.
