Pravda

I've now eaten there 5 times. Everything has been excellent. The chef, Mario, does a new menu every night, but rotates some favorites weekly. I'd describe the food as innovative takes on traditional local and beyond flavors with an emphasis on top notch, fresh ingredients. Most plates are large tapa-sized and range from $5-$12. Note: Pravda is a bar. Food service begins after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Probably one of the best deals in town.

Went there the other night for drinks after dinner @ Maximo's. Interesting decor, some period Russian stuff playing in the background and they apparently have a back patio (we didn't realize this while we were there).

Do you happen to know if the people who owned/cooked at G&E run other places in New Orleans now? It was a favorite of ours for several years.

          Thanks!

hi. tom fitzmorris' new orleans menu site has that info...somewhere. i've been trying to locate it but haven't found it. i know it's there somewhere because i read it w/some interest. it may have been in a section about good/great closed restaurants but that section doesn't seem to be there anymore. g&e was one of my favorite spots too.

I'm curious: why is Pravda the ONLY place in NO and surrounding areas that might work for his birthday?
