Rest. Confirmed: Sherman Oaks

Hypnotic23 Aug 6, 2008 05:54 PM

I rang the La Cienga location and confirmed it with the boss.

In the next few months Stone Fire Pizza will be moving into the Fondue location on Ventura Blvd.

This should be great! :>)

Yes, Stuart, I posted that info on July 5, and was the provider to la.eater.com of said info for its breaking of the story June 30!

The posting notice went up on the property on June 26, 2008.

Yes, I first heard about this from your post on here.

Then today I confirmed it again since I haven't heard more.

This is great news since I'm told they have a decent pizza for our area.

      All the best,

      Stuart

The activation of a liquor license takes about 75 days from the day of posting, and then you have the time involved in the remodeling of the place, which generally starts once you close escrow and get the license transferred, meaning the place will be lucky to open this calendar year.
Went to the pre-tasting for the new menu next door at Max, now closed for a remodeling and re-tooling, etc. tonight, and be prepared for different food, different feel, and a definitely different price point.

"Different price point" as in higher? I certainly hope not...These aren't the times to be raising prices in already expensive restaurants.

Entrees all under $30, with most around $19-$25 while more appetizers in the $6.50-10.50 range (the latter might include scallops or crab, or a salmon parfait, etc.)
Desserts from $6.50 (butterscotch pudding) - $9.00(chocolate espresso souffle).

Thanks for the info! Those prices actually seem fairly close to what I recall paying the last time I went to Max (which was a while ago). Rather pricey, but definitely within reason for that quality of restaurant.

So La Foundue is out? I went there a few months ago and was really unimpressed. The owner seemed sweet, but it was not good---and the wait staff was really rude.

I won't mourn its loss either.

Stone Fire Pizza? As in Stonefire Grill out at the Fallbrook Mall?

Well, it seems very little has been done inside, and since Greg also has another project on the drawing boards in the former Victor's Liquor space at Franklin & Bronson, he has a full plate.
And in this economy, there is probably no sense of urgency.
