We did a family trip to Branson a year ago. Stopped in at Lambert's on the drive in from St. Louis and thoroughly enjoyed it. Also had a good but very expensive elegant dinner at our plush resort south of the city on the Lake. Enjoyed the recently built pedestrian shopping plaza area on the side of Branson that has the dancing waters at night. But by far the dining highlight for me was our dinner at the Keeter Center at the College of the Ozarks, also known as Hard Work U. I would particularly recommend them for brunch or lunch, and save room for dessert.
Here is a thread that includes my original query and finishes with my review:
Enjoy and report back!
It's the land of the buffet, mostly. When we stayed down there for Labor Day, we stayed in cabins with a kitchenette and cooked most meals in.
We did find a good burger & BBQ place, Danna's Barbecue and Burgers-
7930 E Highway 76, Branson, MO (at least this was the one we ate at, closest to Silver Dollar City and Indian Point, there are 4 in the Branson area now.) I had a pretty decent pulled pork sandwich, my daughters had a patty melt (they order patty melts any menu they see them on) my wife had a standard burger. All were really good. Several Missouri Highway Patrol were dining there, if that makes a difference.
Other than that, drive north of Branson to Ozark and eat at Lambert's, home of the throwed roll. You'll eat so much, you'll walk out cross-eyed.
and here's a discussion of Branson chow from 2006, probably still valid.
