Rittenhouse - Corned Beef Hash

Hendi Aug 5, 2008 06:45 AM

Okay, I've been searching for about a year now for somewhere that makes good corned beef hash within walking distance of Rittenhouse and I'm ready to give up and ask for help. Does anyone know where I can find some? I feel like I've been to most of the diners and informal brunch places in the area and its just totally mind boggling to me that I haven't run accross any of what I think of as a staple of any half decent diner? Is this just culture shock from moving the half hour from Jersey to Philly or am I missing something here?

Locust Deli, on 21st & Locust has a little seating area in the back, breakfast is decent there and they have corned beef hash.

Little Pete's was my first thought too. I don't know that I've ever tried to order it there, but I'd be pretty surprised if they didn't have it.

I'm not sure if they'll make it by request, but I know its definately not on the menu, I was pretty shocked when I found out.

Good to know! I'm a fan of homemade corned beef hash, not the stuff out of a can, and ask anytime we are out of town having breakfast. Sadly, the answer is usually "no". Does anyone know of other areas in Philly that make their own?

Not in Rittenhouse, but Famous 4th Street makes a good corned beef hash. Be prepared to take some home though.
