Work dinner for 15 - midtown, downtown

ultbil Aug 4, 2008 03:17 PM

Anyone have some ideas in midtown or downtown for a nice place for dinner that can accomodate 15 people that won't be tight...we'll be moving around and switching seats...splitting into 2 or 3 tables is ok.

Cuisine is flexible - Italian, Asian, American, S. American, French, Greek, Asian (not sushi)...

Steering away from sushi or the not-so-ordinary (i.e. Tahitian, Ukrainian...).

Looking to keep it around $50-$75 pp.

Thinking about Bann in midtown, may Blue Ribbon Bakery (downstairs).

You'll have to inquire about prices, but places where I've attended large group dinners:

    Red Eye Grill (upstairs)
Del Frisco's (esp. the Wine Vault, but there's also space upstairs)
    Jane (downstairs)
    Bar Americain (upstairs)
Anthos (upstairs ... but be forewarned: the upstairs space is hideous)

I really love the food at Blue Ribbon Bakery. If you can work the space and price, I'd take it above any of my suggestions.

Trattoria Trecolori, on 47th St., b/t B'way & 8th Av., serves delicious homestyle Italian fare. The restaurant is large with well-spaced tables. They could probably accommodate you at one long table if that is your preference. Service is excellent though I guess you'd have to explain to them what that switching business is all about. Prices fit your budget.
