Good place for dinner near Melrose/Highland?

I'll be going to Comedy Sportz which is close to Melrose and N. Highland and I have no clue about the restaurants in that area. Any place close that would be decent to eat at? Nothing overly expensive ($15 or less for an entree would be great). Thanks!

8oz Burger Bar, only open a few weeks, on Melrose a few blocks east of Fairfax.

Not too far away is Cayenne on Beverly Blvd, one and a half blocks west of La Brea, only about 7 minutes away. Casual, good food, and lots under 15 dollars. Love the chicken with pomegranate.

I would second Mario's Peruvian, good priced and good. There's also Astro's burger if you are being very casual. I've actually not been to the Melrose location but people seem to like it ok. They have lots of variety and vegetarian.

Lou (a bit more expensive), or Cactus taco (way less expensive) on vine.

Angeli Caffe may fit the price range- maybe a dollar or two over, but the food is great there. It's on Melrose near Poinsettia i believe. Further down Melrose at Gardner is Antonios for Mexican. It's around that price range as well. There is also Lala's which isn't half bad. Tere's is also great. Sante LaBrea is next to East Inda Grill - though i haven't been there in many years. i know a lot of people who love California Chicken Cafe. it's not my first choice, but it's not bad.

Tough price point. Tere's or Mario's Peruvian may be your best bets. Pinks is also pretty close by, fwiw. I also like the East India Grill (and their eggplant bharta in particular), and it's not too far.

Really? at under $15 per entree?

If you aren't a big eater several of the pizzas are just a dollar over that and one is only $10. So a salad and the least expensive pizza would be $18, plus drink, tax and tip.

Good to know. (Of course, I'm a big eater!)

I'm a big fan of California Chicken Cafe. Hot Wings is also good. In the other direction is Tere's Mexican Grill at Melrose and Cahuenga.
