We'll be going to the Hudson River Valley for the first time for a fall getaway and will be staying in Hyde Park. Would you suggest the CIA for dinner? If so, which restaurant. Also, any other great places in the area that we shouldn't miss? We're up for anything from a diner with great food to a fine dine. Thanks for any suggestions!
I'd say if this is your first time visiting CIA, it's worth it to try one of the CIA restaurants. I've been to all but Escoffier. I think it really depends on what you feel like having, contemporary American, Italian etc. It may not be a bad idea to check their Web site and take a look at the menu for each restaurant and then decide The campus is nice so you can walk around before or after you meal, and it's interesting to see all sorts of pastries that students are making for the Apple Pie cafe if you are there during the day.
Twist in Hyde Park is good for dinner, if you're staying more than one night. Eveready, a diner right in the town is good for breakfast, burgers, etc. (I would stay away from Pete's Famous, but it's just my personal opinion.) Rhinebeck is a cute town to stroll around as well. It's north of Hyde Park and takes about 10~15 minutes by car if you stay right in the Hyde Park town center. You definitely have a lot more choices for meals there.
Fall is the perfect time to visit the Hudson Valley! You will enjoy it!
