Fish Monger in NoVA...

I've given up trying to find good fresh fish at the chains (Safeway, Giant, Harris Teeter, etc) and I haven't had any luck finding a good local monger. Anyone have a suggestion? I've gotten some decent grub from Wegman's but I'd like to find a place closer than 12 miles away. I'm near the INoVA hospital on Gallows, near Annandale.

I go to the Grand Mart at Seven Corners. Low prices, high quality. This is simply very close to my house, so other Asian grocery stores might be the same or even better.

The H Mart (Korean grocery) at 29 and Gallows. Tremendous fresh fish selection and great prices. Additionally, I buy most of my produce there because it's so much more affordable than Safeway/Giant.

Absolutely 2nd that. The H mart is great for fish. One word of advise, on a Saturday/Sunday, go early in the morning, or it gets super crowded. The harris teeter in Ballston (Glebe Rd) expanded their fish counter like 6-8 months ago and I def. love the selection. It is closer for me to go to Harris Teeter than the Super H mart.

        Springfield Seafood. Surprisingly good.

About 10 minutes from your locale.

Has anyone bought fish from the fish counter in the Asian grocery store at the intersection of Lee Hwy and Gallows Rd?

I find american seafood in arlington just so-so. sometimes feels not so fresh. the clarendon whole foods is nice -- but pricey. Any other places in Arlington?

American Seafood, in the Lorcum Lane shopping center, in Arlington has been my fish monger for years. Call Gary or Martha at 703 522 8080 for directions.

Try El Grande supermarket off Backlick, or any of the other Asian markets in your area. Grande has a decent selection of live fish in tanks, and a good selection on ice.
