Old Reliables?

I returned to Cambridge a few months ago after being in NYC and the west coast for 7 years. I was in need of a quick last minute dinner at around 9 pm. Had a flyer from wok and roll and ordered. Now what I recieved was not chowish (certainly not bad though) but it was almost unchanged since I ate there in 1999. I am a chef actually and will occasionally "forget" to have a proper meal before leaving work. If I sneak out of work early I will call my SO and have her place a to go order for me at wok and roll. I have done this 6 or 7 times now and it never lets me down. Wouldn't bring a first date or my parents there, but always good always the same. Anyone else have a place like this?

  1. The Burren in Davis Sq. - nothing fancy, just good food - decent portions at decent prices. Sort of the kind of food you'd get at your mom and dad's. Though I haven't been there in a while, but I doubt that it's changed.

    1. For me it's the Coconut Cafe in Newton Centre, I carry their menu with me and often order from the T, then pick up my meal on the way home.

      1. "hello, imperial pizza in brighton? could i get a garlic and sausage sicilian pizza, well done and i will be there to pick it up in 30 minutes? i just have to stop at martys for a six pack of 'gannsett"
the whole thing runs 20 bucks. perfect.
