Run, don't walk-
Tuscany in Bridgeport. One of the best Italian meals I've ever had. You can look at the menu, but keep an open mind for the dozen or so appetizers and entrees that your server will name for you that change with what's freshest. Lots of homemade pastas, great wine list, great desserts.
It's definetly a "nice restaurant", but it's totally unpretentious. A cut way above your average mom-and-pop red sauce Italian, but still maintains a family feel.

I am from that area, but do not get home often. A couple of years ago, while visiting, I ate at:
Biagio's Osteria
88 Ryder's Landing
Stratford, CT 06614

The chef/owner is from Italy. I found the food to be very authentic and the service was excellent.
