Light Dining in Indianapolis
We will be spending a weekend at the Comfort Inn & Suites (5855 Rockville Road).
We are not familiar with the area, so have no idea what "neighborhood" or locale would be closest to our location.
Can anyone recommend some lighter fare - for breakfast and for meals?
Ethnic and the unusual would be wonderfull, too.
Not too expensive, hopefully.
Thanks.

Thanks everyone! Based on your suggestions and further reading here on Chowhound, we have come up with a possible list:
Mugs N Bun
Mahcu Picchu
Abyssinia
Shapiro's Deli
Cairo Cafe
Guatelinda
Rick's Cafe
Union Jack
Dawson's on MainNow, it's just a matter of taste and time each night. I'll be sure to post later this month, after we've returned, to let you know where we went and how it was.
Thanks.

You're also really close to Tamale Place, a bit farther east on Rockville. Awesome homemade tamales, family owned. It is take out only and you need to get there early in the day, but it is definitely worth it.
You might also check out Thai One On in Avon, and I have heard good things about Mediterranean Grill in Avon, but can't vouch for it personally.

I agree with Cookiefiend about Rick's Boatyard. It's not too far. Avon is mostly chain food, but Hirosaki on Rockville Road is a good place to go. My brother likes to eat at Cazuela's in Avon, but I prefer La Parada downtown. Le Peep and Charlie Brown's Pancake and Steak have tasty down home breakfasts. Lots of ethnic dining in the 38th and Lafayette Road area. Pozole on West Washington is good too. Tell us what you like and someone can steer you in the right direction.

You're going to be on the west side of Indianapolis, near the airport.
Rick's Cafe and Boatyard (4050 Dandy Trail) is a nice place on Eagle Creek - it's on the lake.
Union Jacks Pub (6225 W 25th Street) has good pizza and a terrific appetizer of tempura vegetables.
Dawson's on Main (1464 Main Street, Speedway) has gotten good write ups in Indianapolis Monthly - I haven't been there though...
These are all relatively close to where you're staying. You could also head west on Rockville Road and find a few places too. Or, since you've expressed an interest in ethnic food, go a bit north to 38th Street, then go east and you'll find several places off of Lafayette Road... I know there are several posts regarding those places - just do a search for Indianapolis west side. I'm not familiar with those places but I know others are!
Hopefully someone else will chime in! Let us know where you go!
