Color me.......... stupid????

maisonbistro Aug 2, 2008 03:50 PM

So, I'm putting my ignorance of all things deli out on the line.

In today's Gazoo, Sarah Musgrage reviews McKiernan's. There is a picture of, and she talks about an "all beef" turkey roll. Huh??? I don't get it. What is an "ALL BEEF' TURKEY roll?

And there you have it my friends, I am dumb on deli.

I was a bit confused with this one as well. But I dismissed it as fatigue, as I was reading the paper at 3:30 a.m. under a street light while walking the dog.

The club roll explanation makes sense.

I was at McKiernan's today. Food was delicious, and to make up for the slow service, our waitstaff presented us with a beautiful salad of arugula with thin slices of special cheese, which I think was cheddar--not sure. The chicken tikka was scrumptous. They're closed from Monday until Aug. 19th. Too bad.

You wonder why they printed the review this week, in that case - couldn't they have waited until it reopened later in August to run it?

I'm guessing Sarah Musgrave didn't know. If she found out later before it being published, I assume it would be stated somewhere in the review.

I think what the lady meant was "club roll". The sandwich is a version of Wilensky's famous special.

Oh. You'd think they'd catch that in the editing?? It was under the picture and in the text.

Oh yeah, it's the gazoo. Forgot.
