Strawberry Shortcake (Tough luck finding it!!!)

Hello fellow foodies, I've been desperately searching for an excellent strawberry shortcake at any food establishment. Veniero's was a little disappointing, but for 3.50 I understand it's existence. Anyway I'm open ears! let it rip! =)

  1. Strawberry Shortcake is pretty popular at Japanese bakeries especially around Xmas time. I think Panya at 10 Stuyvesant St. serves it, I can't vouch for the taste though. Good luck!

I also believe Cafe Zaiya carries it as well. And Koryodong Bakery in Koreatown has it too, though I wasn't too crazy about it. But, then again, I'm not really crazy about any of their cakes. Those two places I list carry the spongecake version, not the biscuit one.

Not quite a strawberry shortcake, but really delicious was the fraisier-esque strawberry dessert at Ceci-Cela. Instead of sponge cake or biscuit, you've got puff pastry. The cream is heavenly -- it's thick, rich and light all at the same time. And it's not too sweet. You should try it some time.

    2. Yura on 92nd and Madison had them yesterday. I don't know if they have it everyday, but you can call and ask. The desserts there are good, so I am assuming the shorcake would be good too.

      1. I hate to say this, but Whole Foods has strawberry shortcake in their prepared foods dessert refrigerated case.

        2. Oooh!!! I don't know if you will like this idea but the Junior's Restaurant in Brooklyn has amazing strawberry shortcake and the portions are ginormous!!! They even give you strawberry sauce to put on top of it and the slice is so big it has to be served in a bowl. The strawberries in it itself are huge. They have another restaurant in Times Square and a bakery in Grand Central. Hope you find what you are looking for! Yum! :-)
