Amador City and Environs

We'll be staying in Amador City next Saturday. Is there anything CHOW-worthy out there for dinner and breakfast? We like all types of food; price not an object. Thanks!

For Breakfast go to Andrae's Bakery. It is in A City for now, moving to Sutter Creek eventually, but as of Dec 08 it was still in A. City. Good coffee, breakfast, and lunch items. Really good food, bread, bakery items, coffee.

For dinner, approximately 7 miles north of Amador City is Taste Restaurant in Plymouth. Their food is fresh and fabulous.

For lunch, try Susan's Place in Sutter Creek, approximately 2 miles south of Amador City. Susan's Place features "fresh Mediterranean fare" in a charming patio setting. Thier wine menu features local wine at a great price.

Thanks Margot - I already scoped out the reviews for Susan's Place and Taste and they look great. Do you know anything about Caffe Via D'Oro in Sutter Creek?

Our plan is to drive to Amador Valley Sat. from Carson City, NV, where we'll be attending a Friday wedding. We'd like to spend the afternoon wine tasting and will most likely pack goodies to munch on at the wineries. We have Terre Rouge, Renwood and Shenadoah/Sobon on our agenda so far. Any other winery ideas would be great, especially wineries that have nice picnic areas. Thanks again!

There's another winery right next door to Renwood, Deaver, that sometimes sets up a barbecue in the area between the two. Always a great place to grab a bottle to drink while taking a bird walk around the lake in the back.

For shear drama, try the deck outside the tasting room at Story winery. Have some of their non-irrigated old vine zin while enjoying the view of the Cosumnes River Canyon.
