Advice on a final Toronto meal

After several great years at the University of Toronto I am leaving town for a job (my first real one!) in California. My friends and I were planning a final fine dining experience as a goodbye to Ontario. What would everybody recommend? I was thinking of Splendido.... any other suggestions would be welcome. Thanks in advance!

Why don't you have 2 events. All these years in the city probably had you walking around a lot. Perhaps you and your friends can agree for a casual stroll on the Danforth, or Bloor St. W. or College St. etc. Do not stop at any particular place to dine, but sample here and there. Stop for a drink, but I am not suggesting bar hopping rather food hopping. If in any densely populated California metropolis, this is how you will also discover your new home's cuisines!

If you are leaving Canada, then you have to go to Canoe; by far the best "Canadian" cuisine in Toronto (and in a beautiful setting, I might add). It is excellent and highlights the best of our local fare.

My friends and I had a nice dinner at Thuet a few weeks ago. Just make sure you say tap water, if they ask you still or sparkling. We got kind of shafted on the bottles of water. Oh and dessert was not very good. The steaks were good, I had the summerlicious menu and it was very good.

Splendido is a great idea! Fantastic way to remember your years in Toronto.

I would also suggest Globe - locally sourced food. Something to "honour" Ontario theme, I guess.

By the way, I am very envious of your move to California!

          Good luck
