Cheesecake Factory Salads...

Dommy Jul 31, 2008 11:26 PM

Lets say... someone has fried macaroni and cheese stuck in her head and has talked her partner into taking her to the Cheesecake Factory to lunch tomorrow...

and lets suppose this person also wants to round out a meal with a salad from said establishment... The Chopped Veggie looks good... So does the Endive and Pear ...

So any recommendations? I know this person would REALLY appreciate it...

I like the Santa Fe salad, but be warned - it has a TON of cilantro. Which is OK if you like cilantro, but it would really be inedible if you didn't.

I had the Chinese one and it was quite good. But too much food!

Yess.... they were SOOO good... The whole thing started actually because we had heard of JiB's Fried Macaroni Bites and they got middling reviews... But the seed was planted int he head, so we dicided to go try that most consider the 'best'.

The first thing though, CF's appetizer comes smoothered in this Marinara Cream Sauce... which honestly does not belong... with fried M&C... the focus should be on the M&C!! Plus it just adds extra calories so I made sure I told the waiter to keep that sauce OFF...

          P. was a little skeptical on how good these would be so he ordered his favorite CF App... Avocado Egg Rolls...

To make up for such gluttony we ended the meal with the Chopped Veggie Salad... no dressing.

The Fried Macaroni was EXACTLY what I'd want... The shell was wonderfully crisp not greasy in the least. The Macaroni was perfectly done inside with LOTS Of gooey cheese!!! The cheese flavor was mild so we sprinkled on a little pepper on the insides... and actually we both agreed that a dash of hot sauce would make it out of the world...

Sadly the Avocado Egg Rolls was not as good as P. remembers it... The shells weren't as crisp as we'd like and although the Guac was wonderfully done, it all was just too rich... It comes with this pesto like Dipping sauce, which was pretty good but again adds nothing but more richness and fat. Be both agreed... that the Avocado Eggrolls would be great to have with something like Veggie or Chicken Kabobs...

Finally the Chopped Veggie Salad... The waiter did bring out the dressing, which was supposed to be a pomegrante vinegrette, but instead had a strong sesame oil taste (Not bad, but not what I expected). We hoped the salad would be more 'chopped'... it was much more leafy. The veggies that were chopped (Green Beans, Asapargus) seemed to fall in the bottom... Otherwise though, it was composed well... EXCEPT that it had HUGE chunks of white cheddar in it. Now... I KNEW it had cheddar in it, but I though it was shredded stuff like CPK uses... Nope, big cubes that just overwhelmed every bite. I ended fishing them out and chopping up a few to add some flavor back...

Overall, we were kinda 'Meh' about the lunch.. it wasn't bad, but it wasn't very good either... Which pretty much sums up CF anyway....

I must admit that I sort of like the Kobe Burger at Cheesecake Factory ... and I'm generally not a fan of Kobe beef in burger form.

Too bad about the chopped salad ... I think the best salad at Cheesecake Factory is the Chinese Chicken.
