Go back in time...Cape Cod circa 1968

So, the wife and I were driving along the back beach roads last Saturday through the cottage colonies of Yarmouth and Dennisport. We rounded the bend past the entrance to West Dennis Beach and lo and behold, haven't eaten there in decades, stood the Swan River Fish Market and Restaurant. Pulling into the parking lot, it all came back to me, the tattered shingled building with a fish market on one side, restaurant the other, with a takeout window in the front. Walking into the dark entrance on a hot day, we almost left due to the obvious lack of air conditioning. We decided to stay and were sat at a booth next to wide open windows and a perfect summer breeze. The room looked like, except for a possible coat or two of paint, unchanged for forty years. There's a nice view of the Swan River and beach beyond. The Russian waitstaff was friendly and efficient. The food was the bonus! Terrific seafood platter which they accommodated my wife by using only clams and shrimp. A generous portion of expertly prepared and lightly battered seafood for a reasonable $15.95. I had a two pound baked stuff lobster for $22.95. The stuffing was light and fluffy filled with baby shrimp. The lobster was also cooked perfectly. (My worrry when ordering a lobster baked stuffed is it's often overcooked and chewy, or undercooked and runny) A great value. Sure, this place has seen brighter days but a terrific experience all in all. Give it a shot and take a step back in time.
